Book Review: The Miracles of the Namiya General Store by Keigo Higashino, Yen On Press 2019

The Miracles of the Namiya General Store by Keigo Higashino, Yen On Press 2019

What seemed like a short reprieve and a playful passage through time for three delinquents in an old grocery store, turned out to be life changing moments for them and the rest of the characters, past and present. Each of them made decisions that led to an epiphany and in becoming better human beings. I was left wondering who is the real Mr. Namiya and what magic is at work. Then again, the logical sequencing of historical events as backdrop for each character’s story and their placement in the continuum of 30 or more years convinced me to suspend my disbelief. Japanese writers seem to have mastered time travel as literary device to show the themes of destiny and interconnectedness.

💜 I read this book because, there were photos of Kim Seokjin reading/holding it. According to ARMYs on X, Jin mentioned this book during the 5th Muster. It's time to go back to June 2019 and enter the Magic Shop!
